What is LuARca?
LuARca is a project to augment the reality of this Spanish location, showing visitors various points of interest that they can scan with their smart phones when around and learn more about the sites of this nice parroquia in the municipality of Valdés.
Who augments LuARca?
A group of C1 ESL learners at the local EOI who decide on the local tourist sites to be turned into POIs and on which useful audiovisual information each POI should show.
What overall results are expected from the LuARca project?
An interactive printed magazine to view with LAYAR.

Hands-on Work
Who is in charge?
The learners discuss and reach an agreement; they will each augment one point of interest in LuARca. They are in charge!
Searching and writing
The learners surf the net, browse for information about their chosen point of interest and write a tourist-oriented paragraph about it. They share their work on Google Drive.
Illustrating
The learners go on a photo shoot of their picks with their cameras, phones and tablets. We also end up having a video clip!
Recording
The learners record the audio - guides for their points of interest with mobile devices and the TinyVox app. Their oral work is uploaded to SoundCloud straight away.

Augmenting
We create an overlay in Hoppala and add the ten augments, which hide the thumbnail and the audio-guide for the POIs.
Then, we set up the layer in Layar, test it and publish it.
But, oops, Hoppala stops working the very next day, so no results are found any more. So then, what shall we do?
We ask around, and there comes Aulablog helping us out with their educational layer. We gratefully use it and add our POIs there!
Magazine
The learners compile an interactive printed publication using Layar Creator. The Layar Team generously provides us with twenty free sponsored pages.
Once ready, we all scan the magazine with tablets and smartphones and stare at the magic behind it!
Night trip
We all go out tracking our POIs together, checking how LuARca is beautifully augmented.
